On February 2, Poonam’s team posted about her supposed demise due to cervical cancer, triggering an outpour of condolences and shock from the public and celebrities alike. However, Poonam later shared a video message revealing that it was a staged campaign to bring attention to cervical cancer and the importance of vaccination.
Pooja Bhatt, who initially expressed condolences, later deleted her tweet and condemned Poonam’s actions, calling it an “absolute disgrace” and a “disservice to those battling the same.” Gulshan Devaiah shared his doubt about the news from the beginning, stating, “Merko kal sey hi doubt tha,” and criticized the situation as not being as fun as his usual zone.

Sonal Chauhan expressed her outrage, calling it “absolutely shameful” and “a whole new low,” emphasizing that death is not a joke. Ekta Kapoor, reacting to the news, mentioned the importance of knowing which vaccine not to use and suggested that the company behind the campaign should be sued.
