Though many celebrities have openly admitted to using popular weight-loss drugs such as Ozempic, others have been quick to shut down rumors circulating online.
The drug, which was originally developed to treat diabetes, has proven highly effective at helping overweight people shed pounds in that it targets hormones that regulate hunger and satiety.
In November, Sharon Osbourne — who has been open about her Ozempic use — detailed the effects of using the controversial drug and revealed where she stands nearly a year after she first began taking it.
“I’m under 100 lbs. and I don’t want to be,” she confessed in an interview with the Daily Mail. “Be careful what you wish for. I’m too gaunt and I can’t put any weight on. I want to, because I feel I’m too skinny.”
Below are some of the celebrities who have denied using Ozempic.
50 Cent
On Wednesday, the “In Da Club” rapper addressed claims that he’s been using the diabetes drug to lose weight.
“You wanna talk about weight loss? I was in the gym, I was working the f— out, man,” he said in an Instagram video. “And they say it’s Ozempic? I was running, I was running, I was doing what I had to do. You seen me on tour. I was 253 lbs., I’m 210 right now.”
Meghan McCain
In February 2023, about four weeks after welcoming daughter Clover with husband Ben Domenech, Meghan McCain revealed in an op-ed for the Daily Mail that since she had been “urged” to start taking Ozempic to “melt away the baby weight.”
“I just gave birth and I’m being urged to take a ‘miracle shot’ of Ozempic as a quick fix … It’s horrifying, unfair and disturbing — and I refuse,” she wrote.
“In case you’re unaware, there is a craze sweeping the nation: a new ‘miracle’ drug,” she added. “One injection, once a week, for a cool $1,000 a pop, and you can just melt the pounds away.
“I’m told ‘everyone is doing it,’ as if that was ever a compelling case,” she continued. “I hear, ‘Just take the shot,’ as it has become known in shorthand. I was even offered a black market freebie by someone with ‘extra shots at home’ … Well, let me make one thing very clear. I’m not taking it. I refuse. There’s a clear moral issue here. It’s hard to take a drug because swimsuit season is around the corner, while others need it to stay alive. And how can this be healthy?”
Kyle Richards
In January 2023, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star revealed her secret behind her astounding physical transformation — and it has nothing to do with Ozempic.
“NO alcohol, bread, pasta, sugar. I eat protein, fruit and vegetables,” Richards responded to a comment on an Instagram post, which featured a photo of her in a bikini. “Now that I am the weight I want to be, I will have the occasional small amount of pasta etc once in a while. But no alcohol since July 15.
“I workout every day. Chasing it up between running, cycling, hiking and yoga. Weights & stomach everyday,” she added.
When fans began to speculate that the reality TV star might be getting assistance from the weight-loss drug, she was quick to shut down those rumors.
“I can say that I have never tried it and I have never taken it,” Richards told Page Six. “I’m not on any weight loss drug. If you know me, you know I have terrible anxiety so that would scare me to death. I have never, ever ever taken it.”
Julia Fox
In March 2023, the Uncut Gems star told Entertainment Tonight: “All these people are coming for me saying that I take the weight loss things… people are saying that I’m taking Ozempic or whatever it’s called. I’m not and I’ve never have… I would never do that. There are diabetics that need it.”
Keke Palmer
When speaking to People, Keke Palmer said if she was offered Ozempic, she’d pass.
“Sounds like it’s a slay honey, because girls have been out here killin’ it with it, but for me, I would say ‘Nay’ because I always feel like when something sounds too good to be true — it usually is,” she said. “It might do something and then next thing you know, I’ve got something growing, you know, under my armpits, like I don’t know where… where you pushing this fat at, where you taking, where you pulling from — I don’t want any side effects, so — but the girls are killin’ it.”
Khloé Kardashian
In January 2023, the Good American co-founder posted a series of photos of herself on Instagram rocking a mini skirt and crop top, exposing her abs. Fans were quick to snap off in the comments with various accusations that the reality TV star has been using the weight-loss drug.
“The fact that she uses [diabetic] medicine to get this skinny is disturbing,” one user commented.
“Let’s not discredit my years of working out,” Kardashian responded. “I get up 5 days a week at 6am to train. Please stop with your assumptions.”
