Bill O’Reilly said it was “almost inconceivable” that the Democrats would renominate President Biden, claiming that he has “dementia” and that the only hope for the party is to tap Michelle Obama to run for the White House.
“Biden has dementia. I mean, I knew this to be true,” O’Reilly claimed during a segment of his “No Spin News” podcast from Monday.
“So that is going to become more and more clear in the next months” due to the president not having “anything scheduled.”
“He is totally kept apart from the American people in every single way,” O’Reilly said.
The former host of “The O’Reilly Factor” on Fox News compared Biden to Woodrow Wilson, who suffered a debilitating stroke during the second term of his presidency in 1919.
“It is almost inconceivable that in a national convention in August, the Democratic Party will nominate a man who has dementia,” O’Reilly said.
The Post has sought comment from the Biden campaign.
O’Reilly said that former first lady Obama is “the only one” among Democrats “who could beat” former President Donald Trump.
The Post has sought comment from Obama.
The former first lady has given no indication she is interested in running for the presidency.
Earlier this month, she told a podcast that she is “terrified” about the potential outcome of the 2024 election.
“What’s going to happen in this next election? I’m terrified about what could possibly happen, because our leaders matter. Who we select, who speaks for us, who holds that bully pulpit, it affects us in ways sometimes I think people take for granted,” Obama told Jay Shetty on his podcast “On Purpose.”
Last year, Obama told Oprah Winfrey in an interview that was filmed as part of a Netflix special that she does not intend to ever run for public office.
“I’ve never expressed any interest in politics. Ever,” Obama told Winfrey.
“I mean, I agreed to support my husband. He wanted to do it, and he was great at it. But at no point have I ever said, ‘I think I want to run.’ Ever.”
Biden, whose verbal gaffes and apparent memory lapses have raised questions about his age and mental acuity, has an approval rating below 40%, according to the data and statistics website FiveThirtyEight.
Several polls have shown him trailing Trump in key battleground states.
Despite his legal troubles, Trump appears to be a lock to win the GOP nomination, having trounced his opponents in the Iowa caucuses.
The former president also defeated second-place challenger Nikki Haley, the former South Carolina governor, by double digits in the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday.
Biden, meanwhile, appears to be the overwhelming choice among Democrats.
The president, whose name was not on the ballot, won the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday through an unusual write-in campaign.
Biden defeated the two Democrats whose names were actually on the ballot — Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota and self-help author Marianne Williamson.
The victory for the incumbent president was the end product of a fervent write-in campaign orchestrated by New Hampshire Democrats, who were troubled by the national party’s decision to assign the state’s first-in-the-nation primary election to more diverse South Carolina.
