David Tutera’s husband Joey Toth files for divorce

David Tutera, who’s best known as a party planner of weddings for celebrities, is going to have to start planning for his own divorce.

TMZ is reporting that Joey Toth, Tutera’s husband of more than six years, has filed to dissolve their marriage, citing irreconcilable differences in court documents obtained by the publication.

The official date of their separation was listed as Friday, January 19.

As part of his demands in his petition, Toth is asking a judge to order his estranged husband to pay him spousal support, and to make it that he won’t have to pay Tutera any money.

He also wants the judge to require that the host of My Fair Wedding With David Tutera pay his attorney fees.

It turns out this isn’t the first time Toth has filed for divorce.

Court documents actually show he first petitioned to end his marriage from Tutera in 2020, but ended up withdrawing the petition before it was made official.

Tutera and Toth had dated for about four years when they tied-the-knot in front of 280 guests in an extravagant ceremony at the Hollywood United Methodist Church in Los Angeles, according to People.

It was Tutera who popped the question, with his then four-year-old daughter Cielo by his side, in April 2016 during a trip to Hawaii.

After sharing their nuptials, the pair earned the distinction of being the first same-sex couple to be married in the historic Hollywood landmark. 

After the ceremony, guests proceeded to the luxurious Millennium Biltmore Hotel, where they were greeted with the ‘1920s, Old Hollywood’ feel.  

While Tutera welcomed daughter Cielo, now 10, via surrogate with ex-husband Ryan Jurica in June 2013, he and Toth also share a daughter Gracie, four.

Along with Cielo the former couple’s surrogate also gave birth to Jurica’s son, Cedric.

Toth is asking the court to grant them both joint legal and physical custody of the girls.

Tutera, who has planned celebrations for celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Matthew McConaughey, and Prince Charles, who has since been elevated to King following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth. 

Along with his party planning and hosting credits, which includes being awarded Best Celebrity Wedding Planner by Life & Style Magazine, Tutera is also the writer of seven books.

He is also a professional speaker hired to lecture on the topics of weddings, lifestyle, and design.
