King Charles has been left “exasperated” by Prince Harry’s countless betrayals, but the monarch is simply “too busy to dwell” over the ongoing rift, a bombshell new book has revealed.
Author and royal expert Robert Hardman’s new biography, “Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story,” claimed that the feud between the two camps isn’t going away anytime soon.
In fact, Hardman claims that while Charles and his eldest son Prince William — the heir to the throne — haven’t read Harry’s protocol-shattering memoir “Spare,” the pair have been briefed on key points.
“Of course, the King is extremely sad about Harry and Meghan but there is a sense of exasperation, that he has done what he can and now he is King, there are many more things to think about,” Hardman writes, according to the Daily Mail.
The author said that the King initially wanted to discuss the book’s key points with William shortly after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Hardman said the palace staff was “interested” in Harry’s memoir for “what had been omitted.”
The bombshell book, which was released in January 2023, left no stone unturned as he dished on all the family drama within the Firm.
Hardman’s book also quoted Charles’ friend, who said the monarch is “extremely sad” about the ongoing rift between the Sussexes and the royals.
Elsewhere, Hardman claimed that the late Queen Elizabeth was “infuriated” by Harry and Meghan’s claim that she had given her blessing for their daughter to be named Lilibet.
The book reveals that a member of staff said the late monarch, who died in September 2022 at age 96, was “as angry as I’d ever seen her” after the Sussexes released their statement.
The pair welcomed their baby daughter in 2021 and lovingly named her Lilibet, which was the late queen’s nickname among loved ones.
The touching nod to Harry’s grandmother did not go unnoticed, and seemingly struck a nerve within the Firm, according to the new book.
One member of staff “privately recalled that the Queen had been ‘as angry as I’d ever seen her’ in 2021 after the Sussexes announced that she had given them her blessing to call their baby daughter ‘Lilibet’, the Queen’s childhood nickname,” Hardman wrote.
At the time, the BBC reported that Elizabeth was not asked for her blessing to use the name.
The report contradicted Harry and Meghan’s statement, which said that Harry had asked his grandmother for her blessing, and would not have used the name if she had not been “supportive.”
