The Epstein case has surged back into the media spotlight following the judge’s decision to declassify information, potentially revealing the names of celebrities linked to the disgraced businessman.
Jeffrey Epstein’s extensive influence and the disturbing revelations about parties held on his private islands, allegedly involving pedophilia, drug use, and other perversions, have captivated public attention.
Where were the islands and what was the mansion like?
Located in the Virgin Islands of Santa Fe, Little Island and Great St. James Island together span over 93 hectares. Little St. James, Epstein’s favored retreat, earned notoriety as the site of his imposing mansion, where the alleged illicit activities took place.
Another structure on the island, destroyed by a 2017 hurricane, added to the macabre history of the location.
Situated between the bays of St. Thomas and St. John, both islands became infamous under various monikers such as “Pedophile Island” and “Orgy Island.”
Little St. James, humorously nicknamed “Little St. Jeff,” became the epicenter of Epstein’s alleged wrongdoings. Epstein acquired the islands in 1998 and 2016 for $7.24 million and $16 million, respectively.
The mansion on Little St. James featured a library, a Japanese bathhouse, a cinema room, and four villas for guests. Topped with a turquoise roof, the building showcased luxury amenities, including two swimming pools, a heliport, a dock, and even a gas station.
The magnitude of Epstein’s wealth and the opulence of his island retreat have further fueled public fascination with the case.
