The Traitors US 2: a new schedule for its celebrity cast

Peacock has released the cast, premiere date, and trailer for the show I am most looking forward to in 2024: The Traitors season two.

There are two major changes Peacock is making, one of which we already knew about: a nearly all-reality TV star cast.

I’m intrigued by that—mostly because the cast is stacked (Sandra Diaz-Twine, Dan Gheesling, Johnny Bananas, Parvati Shallow, Peppermint), plus, of course, the return of host Alan Cumming.

I’m also hopeful we’ll eventually get two seasons a year: one with an all-civilian cast, and one with an all-reality cast, but that is a dream right now. The reality is a new season that’s less than a month away.

The second change to The Traitors US season two is that the show will not drop all its episodes on a single day, like it did last year.

Instead, Peacock will release the first three episodes on Jan. 12, and after that, a new episode every Thursday at 9 p.m. ET.

I love that schedule: I am a child of the 1980s, after all, and having to wait a week for the next episode of a competition reality show is part of the fun. It also gives us time to discuss before the next episode, and also means some of us won’t know who won before others even start watching!

In addition, Peacock is adding an after-show, The Traitors Postmortem, which will have “additional footage and interviews with eliminated contestants,” and stream on both Peacock and YouTube.

There’s a new trailer for the second season on YouTube, and it gives us some glimpses: at challenges, at the cast making accusations at the roundtable, and at Alan Cumming continuing to look fabulous.
