These celebs have ridden in New Orleans’ Endymion parade: Dolly Parton, Britney Spears, more

The Krewe of Endymion hosts one of the largest parades in New Orleans each Mardi Gras season. 

Hundreds of thousands of people attend the night event to catch throws, see the sights and even catch the eye of star-studded guest riders. 

A-list celebrities are a part of the Endymion’s allure, and there’s always a famous person (or two, or three) in the lineup. 

As the parade’s route changes for the 2024 Mardi Gras season, here’s a look back at some of the celebrities who have ridden in Endymion in the past:

  • 1988: Dolly Parton
  • 1996: Donna Summer
  • 1998: Jerry Springer, who returned in 2016
  • 2000: Britney Spears 
  • 2005: Hootie & the Blowfish
  • 2010: Tom Benson
  • 2011: Anderson Cooper and Kelly Ripa
  • 2013: Kelly Clarkson
  • 2014: Carrie Underwood
  • 2016: Pitbull 
  • 2018: Jason Derulo 
  • 2020: Tim McGraw 
  • 2022: Maroon 5, who also performed in 2012
  • 2023: Darius Rucker

Mel Gibson was announced as a headliner for Endymion 2023, but was pulled from the parade lineup after public outcry over the actor’s antisemitic remarks.
