Simple way I’m A Celeb contestants and camp stay dry despite rain

Viewers of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! are confused about how the campmates stay dry despite the rain.

Many fans said they’ve been confused by how dry everyone has managed to stay, as well as the campsite, despite downpours. Livlifeagain2 wrote: “#ImACeleb all that rain but they was dry and so was the floor.”

Sbell007ck asked: “Where did the rest of the camp go during the rain storm….they are bone dry #ImACeleb.” Hayljadex said: “The fact all the “celebrities” are completely dry when it’s supposedly “torrential rain” just shows how much of a set up it all is #imaceleb.”

Another viewer, Bridggett, added: “Question: if it’s raining in camp then why can’t I see rain on the campmates or am I the only one….. #ImACeleb.” Ashls1605 said: “So it’s pouring with rain but they are all sat bone dry…? I think there might be a cover somehow!! #imaceleb.” Ashleighcairns0 wrote: “How is it pouring with rain but everyone is dry and the fire is still on?? #ImACeleb.”

But according to Capital FM, the reason behind all this is a pretty straight forward one. Above the camp resides a partial cover, to keep certain parts of the campsite dry. It is also reportedly in place to ensure the show’s expensive filming equipment doesn’t get damaged, stop celebs and their beds from getting soaked and to keep the fire going.

Radio presenter Chris Moyles, who appeared on the 2022 series of I’m A Celebrity, spoke about the jungle ‘roof’ after taking part in the ITV programme. Talking to Toby Tarrant on The Chris Moyles Show, he claimed there were small retractable canvas canopy covers above the camp for when the weather took a turn for the worst.

He added: “But it’s not there all the time… By the way, everybody [in the camp] wants this. It would probably cost so much money, but they have a little canopy that just covers the camp area.

“Just from one bed to the phone box and out like that, but if the rain comes in sideways and you’re in the hammock you’re screwed. But I’m like I want this for my back garden.”

Former campmate Alison Hammond also seemingly confirmed the presence of some sort of canopy. Speaking on the Saving Grace podcast about her time in the show, she said: “There’s trees everywhere and also they’ve got this canopy for lighting. You feel like you’re on a camping film set but you can’t see the cameras.”

This year’s series of I’m A Celebrity has seen its fair share of drama already, with YouTuber Nella Rose, former party leader Nigel Farage and First Dates star Fred Sirieux clashing with each other a number of times. On Monday morning (November 27), it was announced by ITV that food critic Grace Dent has left the jungle.

In a statement, ITV said: “Unfortunately Grace Dent has left the show on medical grounds. She has been a great campmate and will be missed by her fellow celebrities and viewers alike.” Dent was seen on camera on Sunday evening’s episode saying: “I just want to go home.” ITV has been approached for comment.
