I’m A Celeb’s Ant lets off steam at boxing gym after fans slam ‘rude’ star

Ant McPartlin has joined a tough Australian gym to kill some time and work on his muscles during his down time Down Under.

The Geordie TV presenter, 48, landed in Australia earlier this month, and has been busy hosting I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! in years, alongside his co-host, Declan Donnelly. And while Down Under, it appears the star has taken up a new hobby of boxing.

The co-host of I’m A Celebrity was seen in a gym near the Kingscliff apartment he shares with Declan Donnelly today going through his paces. After it was announced Grace Dent would be leaving the jungle, Ant was spotted leaving the boxing gym alongside his tattooed security guard near the Jungle Camp.

Ant was also seen sparing and chatting with other members of the boxing club as he showed off his skills. The TV presenter was pictured dripping in sweat after what appeared to be an intense workout session. Ant donned an all black workout ensemble consisting of a loose T-shirt and matching sports shorts. He also wore a blue and white striped towel over his shoulders and red tape around his hands, which is used to protect a person’s hands and wrists as they box.

In one shot, the star looks particularly tired out from the intense training session as he is seen with his head leaning back and his eyes closed – as he stands with a pair of silver and black boxing gloves in his hand. The I’m A Celebrity host’s boxing trip comes after he was brutally slammed by ITV viewers over a mean swipe he made towards Made In Chelsea star, Sam Thompson on Sunday night’s episode.

Reality TV favourite Sam, 31, has won over viewers with his bubbly personality and positive attitude on the ITV show. He has joined the likes of Nigel Farage, Nella Rose and Jamie Lynn Spears in pursuit of becoming King or Queen of the Jungle. However, not everyone is a fan of Sam’s huge personality.

Some viewers have criticised Sam for being “attention seeking” and “annoying” at times on the show. The reality TV star has already shown his love to his campmates, being super excited to have boxer Tony Bellew in camp. After succeeding during his trial, Sam enjoyed sharing the news with camp and hugging all his co-stars.

It appeared Ant wasn’t so fussed on Sam’s positive attitude as he said: “At least the trial went well. It delivered the ultimate prize for camp, the one thing they value more than anything.” Dec interjected: “Food!”

But Ant continued: “No, an hour without being hugged by Sam. That would have been bliss. You see, he is a nice kid and all that, he is a nice kid but the hug is too much. I wouldn’t like that, that’s too much for me. Back off.”

Fans at home weren’t impressed with Ant’s comment as they took to social media to share their thoughts. One said: “Sam’s gonna come out the jungle and see ant and dec taking the p**s out of his hugging and its gonna break his heart.” Another added: “That was a bit mean from Ant about Sam.”

During his trial, Sam shared his love towards the Geordie duo and he told them they were his “hero”. He told Ant and Dec: “I love you guys so much it’s all I’ve ever wanted to do make you proud.”
