Pro-Palestinian celebrities could start by decolonizing their faces

While plenty of celebrities have demeaned themselves with their Hamas apologia since the terrorist organization’s brutal attack on Israel earlier in October, millionaire real estate magnate and B-list Beverly Hills celebutante Mohamed Hadid has truly taken the cake, equating Israel to Nazi Germany, Gaza to World War II-era concentration camps, and Israel’s self-defense to the literal Holocaust.

Hadid’s younger daughter, supermodel Bella Hadid, was perhaps more measured in her justification of Hamas’s attempt to exterminate the Jews, but the end goal was obviously the same as her father’s.

While the younger Hadid paid lip service to the “pain” felt by Israelis, she refused to name and blame Hamas terrorists, called for a ceasefire, which is tantamount to the eradication of the world’s sole Jewish state, and more crucially, lied that Israel is responsible for “brutal settler invasions which led to the destruction of entire communities, murder in cold blood and the forcible removal of families from their homes.”

Hadid has always been quick to boast of her Palestinian heritage, as her father was born in Nazareth. But if her face is any indication, Mohamed Hadid might have instilled pride in allying with Gaza, but he certainly failed at instilling any pride in being Palestinian.

After years of angrily denying that she has gotten plenty of plastic surgery and other medical enhancements such as lip fillers and thread lifts, Bella Hadid finally copped to a single of the most obvious cosmetic interventions: a nose job that she admitted she got at just 14 years old.

“I wish I had kept the nose of my ancestors,” Hadid conceded last year. “I think I would have grown into it.”

As you can tell in the photos, trading in a traditionally Arab nose for an Aryan one is likely the least of Hadid’s procedures. Compared to the undeniable natural beauty of her youth, Hadid’s face today has inexplicably lost all of its buccal fat, narrowing her face while her lips have inflated to twice the size. The chin is more pointed, and the blue eyes are permanently raised into an expression of near surprise. In fact, her face nearly perfectly fits the Aryan ideal of “narrow-faced with a narrow forehead, a narrow high-built nose and a lower jaw and prominent chin” and blue eyes.

But when a minor gets a permanent and potentially life-altering, medically unnecessary surgery, we don’t blame the 14-year-old girl. We correctly blame her parents, who not only taught a blossoming biracial beauty that she must adhere to white beauty standards to become a model but encouraged her to erase the non-white half of her heritage with serious surgery.

Hadid is hardly the first celebrity to use plastic surgery and injectibles to fulfill a distinctly Caucasian standard of beauty, but her example is the most stark. Both Mr. and Miss Hadid lament Israel as an ostensibly colonizing force, oppressing Arabs on the basis of race, in their tellings. Then why have the Hadids let Aryan dreams colonize their beauty standards, let alone the underage Bella’s literal face?
