Celebs React to Matthew Perry’s Death

Celebrities have taken to social media to pay tribute to Matthew Perry, the actor and Friends star who was reportedly found dead in a jacuzzi at his Los Angeles home on Saturday.

Actress Selma Blair, who caused some drama between Chandler Bing and Monica Geller in a 2002 episode of Friends, wrote on Instagram, “My oldest boy friend. All of us loved Matthew Perry, and I did especially. Every day. I loved him unconditionally. And he me. And I’m broken. Broken hearted. Sweet dreams Matty. Sweet dreams.”

Mira Sorvino, who co-starred alongside Perry in the 1994 TV movie Parallel Lives, wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Oh no!!! Matthew Perry!! You sweet, troubled soul!! May you find peace and happiness in Heaven, making everyone laugh with your singular wit!!!”

George Takei added in a post of his own, “What a tragic piece of news to read. My heart goes out to his loved ones and long time cast mates.”

Olivia Munn posted a tribute to Perry on her Instagram Story. “He struggled so much with addiction and was brave enough to be open and honest about it. I’m so sorry to his family and friends who are getting this news today,” she wrote. “Nothing short of heartbreaking. Rest in love, Matthew Perry.”

Paget Brewster, who played Chandler’s love interest Kathy in the fourth season of Friends, wrote on X, “I’m so very sad to hear about Matthew Perry. He was lovely to me on Friends and every time I saw him in the decades after. He won’t rest in peace though … He’s already too busy making everyone laugh up there.”

Rumer Willis, whose father Bruce Willis starred in the 2000 comedy The Whole Nine Yards and its 2004 sequel The Whole Ten Yards with Perry, also posted a tribute on her Instagram story. “I’m sad to hear about Matthew Perry passing. When I was a kid and I was on set while he and my dad were doing Whole Nine and Whole Ten Yards he was so kind and funny and sweet with my sisters and me and I think that movie still makes me laugh so much,” she wrote. “I know he had many challenges in his life and brought a lot of joy to people with his comedy, I hope he can rest peacefully.”

Meredith Salenger, who appeared in the 1988 film A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon with Perry, wrote on X, “Oh no no no no no! Matty! My heart breaks Matty … Matthew and I have known each other since [we] were 16 years old. Oh man. No words. Rest in peace sweet Matthew Perry.”

On X, Piers Morgan wrote, “RIP Matthew Perry, 54. The Friends star was a great actor, but by his own admission, a very tormented guy. His recent autobiography about his addiction-ravaged life was one of the most powerful, honest and revealing I’ve ever read. Such sad news.”

“Rest in Peace, Matthew Perry,” Michael Rapaport tweeted. “Always so nice, cool, chill and talented. You are a part of American culture and will live on forever.”

Tom Green wrote, “Shocked and saddened to just hear about the passing of Matthew Perry in a tragic drowning. He is one of the many talented and incredible success stories from my hometown of Ottawa, Canada. Rest in peace Matthew.”
