As cuffing season approaches, a list outlining places to avoid for a first date with women has gone viral, and celebrities have a thing or two to say about it.
On Instagram, @DuvalPromo conducted a survey, polling women about their least preferred first-date locations, and the responses have sparked considerable controversy. It has left some men confused about what other options are available and why certain restaurants were included.
The list includes popular restaurant chains like Applebees, Chili’s and Olive Garden.
Clubs and hookah lounges made the list, but The Cheesecake Factory has gotten most of the attention at No. 1 on the list. LL Cool J tweeted that he has plans Wednesday night that include the eatery.
In a clip from his eponymous show, Stephen A. Smith asked, “First of all, what the hell is wrong with Cheesecake Factory?”
“Ain’t nothing wrong with Cheesecake Factory. Not only is there nothing wrong with the Cheesecake Factory, the Cheesecake Factory ain’t that damn cheap.”
Television personality Demetria Obilor seems to agree according to her Instagram post.
“If you won’t go to Cheesecake Factory on a first date, you are the problem,” it reads. “There is nothing wrong with going to Cheesecake Factory on a first date. In fact, I thought it was low-key thoughtful because when you’re still getting to know someone you don’t know what they love to eat yet and Cheesecake has like 10,000 items on the menu.”
Lil Duval took a headshot at anyone criticizing a date at the restaurant.
“Ya whole outfit from Shein but Cheesecake Factory is where you draw the line?” he said.
The list follows a video that also went viral last week depicting a woman who refused to get out of the car when she realized that her date took her to The Cheesecake Factory.
In the video, she tells her date, “This is a chain restaurant. Who takes someone who looks like this to a chain restaurant? A woman should be cared for and cherished.”
It has not been confirmed if the video is a skit.
