“For me, I had a difficult time being connected to my mom, because she couldn’t be my mom anymore, so I felt like I lost a connection with her. When I was 21, I asked her to step down as my manager, but I then couldn’t manage on my own as I had become co-dependent, so I started to rely on alcohol. I felt alone, I wasn’t thriving and making good decisions and stopped showing up. I had an attitude, but I just wanted to not feel so alone. That is trauma and even though this isn’t the most extreme form, there are enough of us coming together now as we just want to help.”
