Penny Lane will now model for Sports Illustrated as the Instagram star continues to grow as a social media personality by modelling a swimsuit for the publication.
She features in the 2024 swimsuit edition and has previously appeared on the cover of ‘OutKick’s Screencaps’ on a few occasions during her career and will now feature on the 60th edition of American sports magazine.
She wore a green bikini as she strolled down a catwalk at the Miami Swim Week, hosted at the W Hotel on Miami Beach before she got the news that she had realized one of her life goals.
“This has been a dream of mine since I was 15 years old,” Lane wrote on Instagram. “I saw Sports Illustrated and told my mum one day, ‘I will do that, I don’t know how, but I will,’ and today it’s crazy to be able to share this news with you.
“@si_swimsuit thank you for giving not only me, but the fantastic seven finalists a platform to share our stories and journeys with the world. I couldn’t think of a better way to achieve this goal than doing it alongside these amazing women that have inspired me and I can’t wait to see each other grow on this journey ahead of us.”
Lane has over 300,000 followers on Instagram, and her post celebrating her selection earned close to 7500 likes and 339 comments from her fans and supporters.
Who were the other finalists?
As Lane said, seven women made the final of the competition. They are:
- Jena Sims, wife of Brooks Koepka
- Nina Cash, a retired university dean
- Brittney Nicole, a naval contractor
- Achieng Agutu, a Kenyan model who has appeared in Vogue
- Sharina Gutierrez, a Filipina-American model, also appeared in Vogue
