Tom Cruise’s daughter Suri overcomes her ‘complicated’ past with surprising maturity

Tom Cruise and Katie Homes ended their marriage back in 2011 after having been married for five years, and they had a daughter together, Suri Cruise, who has been forced to overcome a complicated past.

At 17 years old she is now approaching the back-end of her teenage years and needs to start focusing on applying to colleges and planning just what she wants to do with her life.

Following her parents’ divorce, Suri actually lived with Katie Homes and had very little contact with Tom Cruise, if any at all.

It is a rather unusual situation in which Cruise has not been involved with his daughter’s life at all since the breakdown of his marriage.

Some outside observers have suggested this may well be due to Tom Cruise’s prominent relationship with the Church of Scientology, but that has yet to be confirmed by his daughter.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, an insider made clear that Suri Cruise has been well protected by her mother.

“Suri is applying to schools all over the place,” the insider told the Daily Mail.

“Katie really does want her to stay in New York so they can be close to each other. Katie takes great pride in her but is also extremely overprotective. Being raised by a single mom in New York has made Suri who she is.

“Katie has always put Suri first and Suri loves her mom more than anything. She’s a smart girl, and is turning into a very intelligent mature woman. She has a very close group of loyal friends, and she knows exactly where she comes from.”

What is the situation between Tom Cruise and his daughter, Suri?

As previously stated, there is no relationship between father and daughter at the present moment, although the actor is on the hook for her school fees until she turns 18.

These fees amount up to 400,000 dollars, and whilst there has been very little public discourse about Tom Cruise’s relationship with his daughter, he attempted to shed some light on it during a 2013 deposition.

“Listen, when there is a divorce… things change. It’s not an ideal scene. It’s not an ideal situation.” Tom Cruise declared.
